Gramma Goose by SallyReading Into A Story… From the moment of her arrival, storytelling mom, Erika, began reading to her and hasn’t stopped. They shared cloth books, board books, soft and hard cover books, alphabet books, and counting books, story books and poems. When Florie finds a little special spot for sitting- on a rock in the garden or a stool in the kitchen – the minute she sits down she will make the sign for and say “book”. Yesterday Erika gave Florie a brand new alphabet book. Starting at the ‘A is for Apple’ page led right into saying (and playing) the rhyme, “Way up high in the apple tree..”, then into “Apples, apples, good to eat…..” As they read through the book, illustrations on each page generated several rhymes. When you and your child are equipped with a good rhyme repertoire, you can play this game with any book you have. Another new favorite book is Baby’s First Book, published by Barefoot Books. Wordless pages can be so much fun! See how many rhymes you and your child can find! |
